Fourth Of July Activities

July 4, 2020

Well 2020 is the year of nothing constant. There were many activities originally planned that went virtual. One event my family always tries to find is a big fireworks display.  We have seen them all over our valley.  This year many places cancelled their events but one is still on! The town of Gustine is still doing their fireworks this year but with new rules. I will outline those at the end of this article.  If you are not looking to do things outside your home this year you can make the most of it.  Some fun ideas to do at home:

  • Have a front yard BBQ so you can see others but still stay socially distant
  • Make fun red white and blue themed food.
    • One of our favorites is a parfait with yogurt and strawberries and blueberries (we use ones from our local farms)
  • Do a craft
    • A favorite is using straws (cut at one end) or toilet paper rolls (also cut on one end) or a fork dipped in paint and splatter on the paper to make a firework
    • Use craft sticks to make a rocket
  • Cool off with water activities
  • Read the Declaration of Independence
    • Discuss what that might have been like then and how it might apply to your lives now

Rules for Gustine Firework Display

  • It is at Jensen Road Soccer Field
    • No official guide of where to park but it looks like lots of room near highway 33
  • No parking on Jensen Road unless you have a parking permit
  • Respect other property
  • No Walk-ins (everyone must be in a vehicle)
  • Remain in or near your vehicle
  • Maintain social distancing when out of vehicle and wear a mask when needed
  • DO NOT go into orchards, fields or Gustine High School
  • Streets will be BLOCKED off at Canal School and Bambauer. Also at North avenue and Jensen Road.

Have a wonderful 4th of July!!!!
